Square Enix ha recibido tres nuevos premios Guinness Worlds Records por los juegos de la serie Final Fantasy. Estos galardones se presentaron durante el Fan Festival Europeo de Final Fantasy XIV celebrado el pasado fin de semana en Frankfurt (Alemania).

Final Fantasy recibió el premio como "La serie de videojuegos de rol más prolífica". Hasta la fecha, su nombre aparece en un total de 87 juegos de rol, entre los que se incluyen sus series derivadas.

Final Fantasy XIV, el MMORPG (Juego de Rol Online Multijugador Masivo) producido y dirigido por Naoki Yoshida, recibió de forma específica otros dos récords Guinness. Por un lado, como el juego con "La secuencia de créditos más larga en juego MMO" – como reconocimiento a la secuencia de 1 hora y 38 minutos de duración de Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (2013). Mientras que la sección de créditos incluye habitualmente los nombres de las personas involucradas en la creación de un juego, esta sección en A Realm Reborn también incluye los nombres de los jugadores del original Final Fantasy XIV (2010) en señal de agradecimiento del equipo de desarrollo hacia su apoyo.

Por otro lado, Final Fantasy XIV también ha recibido el récord a "Las piezas musicales más originales en un videojuego (incluyendo las expansiones) por Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (2013)". El juego cuenta con 384 composiciones musicales grabadas específicamente para el juego, desglosadas en 280 piezas del juego principal y 104 de la expansión del juego de 2015 Heavensward.
